Start Your Own Business
It seems unlikely but being unemployed can also be a time of opportunity - an opportunity to investigate new possibilities such as self-employment.
Before launching into a new business venture it's important to research, research and research some more. Gather as much information as possible on the type of business that interests you and on the nuts and bolts of moving from business idea to business reality. Two of the best spots to start are the Small Business Enterprise Centres located in Niagara Falls and St. Catharines. These are great one-stop shops full of the general information that you need to get started. Check them out on-line at:

Once you've completed some research and have decided to find out more about self-employment, in Niagara there are a number of spots that can help you - just click on the "Employment and Training Information" tab on the left - then select "Entrepreneur" and the city that you live in and your choices will be listed.
