There are a lot of job boards out there – some are good, some not so much. Most people frequently refer to the Service Canada website www.jobbank.gc.ca - employers use it alot primarily because it is free and widely viewed. 

I just recently came across a site that is new to me http://www.eluta.ca. By entering your postal code it shows current job postings and links you to the employer’s site. I found quite a few unique positngs – it’s definitely worth a look.

If you need to find a computer to use on the weekend (or any day) – head to your local library. Every library has community access computers that you can use to access the Internet, type up a resume and do your job search. There is usually no cost for the first half hour of use but charges could apply for additional time and for printing. Each library is a bit different so check with yours before you get started and you may need to reserve a time so plan ahead.

While you’re at the library, check out their job search section and take home a couple of books to help with some new ideas and job search techniques. Libraries will also let you borrow cds, dvds and computer games for free – a great fit with any budget!

The FIFA World Cup is attracting lots of attention for those annoying horns as well as for the soccer matches! The site http://impact.xap.com/ provides an interesting look at all of the careers that are associated with the World Cup. It’s a great overview of different careers complete with descriptions, videos and links. Take a break from watching the games and check out some potential careers that you might want to “kick” around!

Sorry it’s been too long between posts but some good employment news today. Convergys is holding an on-site Job Fair on Wednesday June the 23rd at their Welland lcoation. They are looking for C ustomer Service Associates to work in their in-bound customer contact centre. The JobFair runs from 11am until 4pm, arrive prepared with your resume and references. Just a reminder that today is the last day of the Commisso’s Fresh Foods Job Fair.

Commisso’s Fresh Foods will be opening soon in Niagara Falls (6161 Thorold Stone Road in Niagara Falls). They have been recruiting management staff but now the dates have been set for the Job Fair for all other positions in the store.Commisso’s will be partnering with the Employment Help Centre (6100 Thorold Stone Road in Niagara Falls) for the Job Fair. It will take place at the Employment Help Centre on June 2nd from 9am to 2pm and on June 3rd from 3pm to 7pm.

EHV Power is holding a Job Fair in Simcoe on Tuesday June the 1st. EHV Power will be constructing 2 solar farms in the Simcoe area and they are looking for people to fill General Labour positions. The people who fill these positions will assist in the construction of the solar power generation systems. At the Job Fair, staff will be interviewing and hiring on site.

They are looking for people with some construction experience, mechanical experience is an asset and must be okay with working outside. Be sure to bring along a resume and a void cheque for payroll in case you are hired. The jobs will start on June the 7th.
